Template:Region infobox The Luminous Peak is a region of the Ultravoid and a seemingly abandoned natural habitat of the humanoid, sentient fungus species known as the Umbra, as well as the various mushrooms and fungi tended by them. It is one of two habitats of the Umbra, the other being the Eternal Garden.

The Luminous Peak is a hot and humid place comprised of several floating chunks of land. A huge ball of lava is hovering in the air at one far end, unloading a long flow molten pyroxenes down onto a huge chunk of ground below it, forming a large lake of lava. The solid chunks of ground are mostly scattered, floating islands at this point, the ground below the lake of lava being the largest of these, and the lava is in fact cascading over the edge of it at this point. The Umbra architecture in the region is ancient and in complete disrepair, most of them missing roofs and other parts and a lot of it broken up into parts that are floating in the middle of the air by the Ultravoid's unique, strange gravity.

The Luminous Peak was initially formed from the collision between two distinct planets, one of molten pyroxenes and one with an ultra-dense nutrient-rich crust containing every scientifically known compound. The combo made for the perfect habitat for the Umbra and other fungi that came to live there, propelling their growth.

It seems that the only way Umbra interact with the Luminous Peak today is through the gardener's tasks of tending to the areas of the final resting places of the Elders located there, such as replacing and keeping candles around the Elders lit and storing food sacks.

History[]

The Luminous Peak was formed from two distinct planets: one made of molten pyroxenes, and one even stranger one with an ultra-dense crust comprised of nearly every scientifically known compound. The heat of the lava from the first planet helped drive the fungi living there wild while the abundance of nutrients in the soil from the latter planet propelled their growth.

Trivia[]

  • A popular theory is that the ancestral species that the Umbra evolved from, possibly non-sentient fungi, came from the Luminous Peak, or more specifically the nutrient-rich of the two planets that formed the Ultravoid, and that these planets were consumed by the Ultravoid after which the planets collided and created the best possible habitat for the fungi to develop and evolve into a sentient, sapient humanoid species of organisms able to think, communicate verbally and move around. This theory is backed up by the Luminous Peak being the final resting place of the Antecedent, the first of the Umbra. It is further backed up by the presence of so much ancient, ruined Umbra architecture as compared to the Eternal Garden, which seems to be the current home of the Umbra. Furthermore, it is theorized that the Umbra eventually moved to the Eternal Garden instead.
